 | Hey everyone, Saturday night (8/28/10) was our first concert
at your awesome theater! But it will certainly not be our last. The
show was great and we love your place.

 | We visited for the first time The Sylvia Theater last Friday. What
a refreshing, uncomplicated, and entertaining evening we enjoyed! We
ate across the street and then spent the evening listening to the
Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young tribute band Marrakesh Express. The
band members mesh and blend beautifully. The sound system was just
right; we left with our hearing uncompromised. Delightful! We'll be
back.

Our son plays guitar for The Stranger so when he said they were
playing at the Sylvia Theater in York we decided to go even though
we'd never heard of the place before. Let's just say we were
pleasantly surprised by the theater itself and totally wowed by
the experience. It was like stepping back in time to a place
where the quality of the sound is more important than the volume.
It's such a relaxed atmosphere and everyone was so friendly we
couldn't help but enjoy just being there. I wish Fort Mill
had something like this. If you want to see a movie around
here you have to go to Charlotte or Rock Hill. Quite
frankly, I'd rather drive all the way to York to see a movie at
the Sylvia since it's such a wonderful place. I hope The
Stranger performs there again soon. I'll definitely attend
and bring some friends to watch. Thanks for a wonderful
experience.

 | I really think that the Silvia is a treat for my Granddaughter.
She is always going with her friends. She comes back with a great
smile. And I do to, because I have just saved some money. Your
prices’ are great.

 | Hi again you wonderful Sylvians! There are not enough descriptive
words to explain what a wonderful experience and treat to the senses
a visit to The Sylvia Theater was for us. When we first visited your
nostalgic little treasure some two years ago, we were welcomed and
as others have said, treated like old friends. Needless to say, when
we had the opportunity again, we did not hesitate to make the trek
up from our home, then in Columbia, SC. On our second visit, we
brought along friends so that they might experience the acoustic
wonder and timeless magic that is The Sylvia Theater. They too were
charmed by their experience, as we suspected they would be. As fate
and God would have it, my hubby was offered a permanent job with
Microsoft in South Charlotte. After his, nearly two years of
commuting 77 daily from Columbia to Charlotte and back, we were
finally able to sell our home in Columbia, and move closer to my
hubby's job to relieve him of his enormous daily journey. Still
don't know how he did it. We did look in several communities in and
around the area, but again, higher powers were definitely at work as
all the elements fell right into place. And, just guess where we
found the most perfect house, at the best price, in the most perfect
neighborhood, in the most charming town, with the nicest people, and
the MOST special little theater in all the world? That's right, you
guess correctly!! We now proudly and officially live in York, just
mere minutes from the steps and the magic of The Sylvia!!! Needless
to say, we could not be more pleased with our good fortune. Moving
during the holidays has been a dizzying whirlwind. Still, we so look
forward to the many visits we will make, experiences we will have
inside The Sylvia, in the days to come. Our children can't wait to
see a movie at the place Mom And Dad speak so fondly of, so often!
We feel as though we already have old friends right here in the
community thanks to you guys, and that is such a blessing when you
are new in town. We are infinitely grateful for The Sylvia, and all
her wonderful people! We couldn't be more thankful, and for anyone
considering a visit, you won't find a better venue, anywhere! Your
friend and NEW neighbor,
Deb Watson York, SC

 | Wow, what a treat. I have been meaning to get out to The Sylvia
for a long time but never could seem to find the time. I won tickets
on WSGE for the Bill Noonan Band show in September and I was blown
away. Bill’s show was great and the atmosphere was fantastic. Paul
& Stephanie treated us like old friends even though it was our
first meeting. It is such an intimate place to see a show and the
sound was great. I can’t believe that I have missed so many
opportunities to see great performers there. I will definitely make
it to as many shows as possible from now on and I have been telling
everyone to get out there and see a show or a movie. Thank you so
much for your vision and for giving everyone such a wonderful venue.

 | We have enjoyed several movies and events at They Sylvia. The
group we enjoyed most was the Burford Brothers. Their music is great
but their humor is even better. What an enjoyable evening. Your
prices are great and we love the building also. Great job. Please
have the Burford Brothers back again. Thanks.
Doug Kirkland

|
 | Edwin McCain's concert was wonderful as always and I really
enjoyed Gary Pfaff who opened for him. Please have more performers
like these. They were excellent!!
Beth Hoffman

|
 | We give the Sylvia a Giant A Plus! When I was kid - I use to look
forward to going to the movies every week in another state. However,
with the costs of going to Pineville or Rock Hill being too high-I
was not able to share this with my own kids but maybe twice a year.
Then we moved here and discovered the SYLVIA in York. This is a
marvelous place to bring the family and children. We have become
very loyal fans attending the movies almost every week. Ticket
prices and concession prices are great. too. So thank you from my
family to all of you at the Sylvia for allowing me- to start a
weekly tradition with my children. Keep up the great job and Happy
New Year 2007!
Eva

|
 | I am a York native and always went to the Sylvia to see movies,
especially on Saturdays. Any chance of getting the movie, Akeelah
and the Bee, anytime soon? Would love to take my granddaughter to
see it. Thanks
Pamelia Lowry Gilmore

|
 | I am a York County native, and believe it or not, just visited the
Sylvia yesterday for the first time ever! I brought my twin
sons to see a movie and was so impressed that I am hoping to have
their birthday party there in July! You really have a great
thing going there! Not to mention the history involved in the
building and memorabilia! My husband and I hope to visit some
of your adult shows / performances sometime too! Thanks so
much for what you are doing with the Theater, building, etc.!!!
Dawn Markowitz

|
 | I am encouraged that you offer a three song opener (and only three
songs). We run a club in Wisconsin and it is important to offer
opportunity beyond ones own tastes for performers to crash upon the
shoals of indifference while not allowing them too much time to put
a paying audience into an anxious state. Three songs is plenty and
the occasional up-and-comer will prosper in that amount of time.
Bill Camplin

|
 | Thanks a million for having Edwin McCain booked there on March 11!
We will be traveling from Memphis. Can't wait!
Angie & Larry Little

|
 | Have Natalie Royal back as a TSO sometime. She WILL be a top notch
songwriter not only on the local level, but regionally as well.
Maybe when she's 16?
Cotton

|
 | Michael Glabicki will be coming soon!!!!!
lennox

|
 | Thank you, thank you, thank you, for showing the "Chronicles
of Narnia"! What a wonderful treat for our family! We saw it
last night (Friday) and hope to find time to do it again tonight!
The theater was packed and we were so glad to see that people
respond so whole heartedly to this type of movie. A suggestion for
Ladies' Night Out---Pride and Prejudice---PLEASE! Are you still
doing Ladies' Night? Another one we'd love to see--The End of the
Spear-- Thank you again, we love the Sylvia and want to see you
prosper. We tell all our friends.

|
 | It was great to see Paul Finnican on stage again. Great job buddy.
It was the first time I experienced Danielle
Howle or Jeff Black...WOW. Two
very unique talents. I walked away thinking about how lucky I was to
have experienced such great artists in such a wonderful venue. Thank
you Paul, Stephanie, the Sylvia Theater brings so much happiness to
myself and my friends.
Kenny Littler

|
 | Had a great time at the Sylvia. Mark and Tia were wonderful
as always. This is a great theater and we look forward to
returning. Paul, thanks for making us feel so at home
and showing us around. York is a neat place. Thanks
again....
Bruce & Kathy - Cornelius, NC

 | The place is great! I so enjoyed my night at the

I wish they would entertain more often!

 | I would like to thank Paul for putting all this stuff in the
little theater, like a movie theater. Now that's krunk. Thanks
Will Aggeles

|
 | When can we count on Doc Watson coming to York? We saw him 3 years
ago, an have not forgotten!!!!!
Joe

|
 | Thank you for bringing quality movies to York. If people just knew
how "cool" an experience it is, they would make it a point
to come see a movie. Your current ticket charge of $5.00/person
makes it just that much better. I encourage everyone to come on out
for some top notch entertainment. You won't be disappointed.
Ava Howe

|
 | What a neat little theater you have in the heart of the city. My
husband and I drove down from Matthews, NC, with our 14 year old
daughter and her friend, and we all loved the place. It is a cozy
little theater and it has a lot of charm. We look forward to coming
back again.
Christina Platko

|
 | We saw Natalie Royal on October 8, 2005. She is a very talented
performer, and we hope to see her back at the Sylvia Theater again
soon! We drove from Matthews, NC to see her and Justincase, and it
was well worth the drive!
Christina Platko

|
 | Thanks for bringing Poco to the Sylvia Theatre. Great
show...hope you'll consider bringing them back for an all acoustic
show! I would love for you folks to consider bringing Joey
Molland's Badfinger to your theatre. The group played
Charlotte on Mother's Day weekend and were amazing. Joey has
put together an incredibly talented group of musicians and singers
that do the Badfinger legacy proud. Anyway, thanks for a great
show! Keep up the great work!
Dean Billings

|
 | Great show Saturday night! Natalie Royal was an awesome
opener to an equally awesome band, justincase! Great venue;
great show for young people.
Ted and Amy

|
 | My wife and I wanted to thank you both for such an enjoyable
Saturday night. Paul, not only did you help out with our ticket
situation, but you took the time to introduce the Sylvia Theater to
us. You have such a piece of history and we enjoyed seeing it.
Driving out of York, Sunday morning, Dianne said "that was the
most enjoyable place to see groups, such as Poco". We will be
back again and look forward to seeing you. Please tell all the
staff, job well done. They are a great bunch to have working for
you. Thanks for putting our "Induct Poco" sticker
up. They deserve it. Thanks again,
Geoff and Dianne

|
 | Thank You for bringing Poco to the Sylvia Theater. Please feel
free to use our comments on your web-site. I have been a fan of Poco
since 1970....but I had never seen them in a live concert until your
show...the 200 mile trip was worth the effort. We look forward to
coming back again (maybe for Marshall Tucker).
Charles & Wanda

|
 | WOW Great show Friday night with David Via & Curtis Burch and
the Corn Tornados. You need to bring these guys back. Keep the
bluegrass shows coming.
Gary Auten

|
 | Shrev 223 was awesome at Summerfest. Are they headlining a show
there anytime soon?? if so me and all my friends would defiantly
come.
Lisa Barron

|
 | I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed the show on Friday
night with Edwin, Emerson and Kevn.. it was absolutely an amazing
show. I LOVE the Sylvia and the guests I brought who had never been,
thought it was a great place too. You and your staff are very
accommodating people and make everyone feel welcome and it really
makes coming there fun. Hoping to make it to shows in the
future, I'd love to see Emerson do a show himself there, I know he'd
love it and do a phenomenal job. Thanks again, and hoping to
see you real soon... just wanted to say thanks again!
Margi Davies

|
 | Wow! What a show, I have seen a lot of Edwin shows and this by far
was the best!!!!!! The Sylvia Theater is an awesome venue and I will
most definitely be back for more concerts there, the acoustics are phenomenal,
also Paul and his staff are such warm and friendly people it made
the whole experience, along with fantastic music by Edwin, Emerson,
and Kevn a very memorable evening. If you haven't check out the
Sylvia Theater don't hesitate you will not be disappointed!!
Charlene

|
 | Wow! What a show. Leon Russell and band was
awesome. Went with friends that keep telling me about the best
place to enjoy a show in York. They were right. I will be sure
to catch more shows . Thanks for a place like you have.
Danny Bailey

|
 | My second visit to the Sylvia! What a treat. Leon
Russell and band delivered a rockin' and tight one hour and fifteen
minute set. "Wild Horses" was my favorite.
Thanks to all. York's little secret ranks with the Slippery
Noodle in Indianapolis. When Leon stands up the show is
over. Enjoyed the rare glimpse of Leon without shades and
expect to see Tina Rose solo at the Sylvia one day. Kudos!
L. G. Green II

|
 | What a treat to have "Ladies Night Out" on
Tuesday's. I have a "Red Hat" group in Clover and we
love it. We have been coming for months and are so excited
that now you are offering it every Tuesday. I hope this works
out and you can continue to offer it every week. We are
excited about the movies. The staff is great! Keep up
the good work.
Judy Lark

|
 | The concert with Shrev 223 and Blanco Diablo was the best show
I've seen at the Sylvia. You should bring those two
bands back.
Pete

|
 | Thanks for the John Cowan show. Please have them back ASAP.
Charlie

|
 | Great show June 13th with the Cows (John Cowan Band). They
were HOT. Looking forward to coming back for great
bluegrass. Keep up the good work. Great place great
people. Thank you very much. You need Yonder Mountain String
Band.
Gary Auten

|
 | Many thanks that you're bringing the Cows back. With Wayne
Benson (mandolin) ..... in the band now for the past year and the
addition of Noam (Banjo)..... and Jeff Autry,... ...JohnEc has
surrounded himself with the best musicians and mix since the days of
New Grass Revival. It's Friday Night in America (York) the
13th. Can't Wait! Be sure to advertise on WSGE and maybe
the Spartanburg/Greenville area (he hasn't been over that way in a
while!)
mikey

|
 | A friend took me to your theater to see Edwin McCain and I had a
GREAT time! Your theater offers the perfect environment for an
awesome concert experience. I felt like I was a part of the concert.
I wish you guys could get Pete Yorn to perform at your place. It
would be the PERFECT PLACE for one of his concerts!! Thanks for a
great time!
Ali Faulkenberry

|
 | The Battle of the Bands was so awesome. I can't wait to
watch the next one. Most of the bands have some potential and
should go far.
Jes VanVoorhis

|
 | I saw Savoy Brown last night and was in Guitar heaven!!!! Great
concert, I can't beleive you had SB on a Monday night in little ol'
York S.C.--WAY TO GO!!!

 | The Bands should be awesome tomorrow. I think there will be
good competition.

 | The Sylvia is definitely one of my favorite places in the area.
The atmosphere of the place is wonderful and unforgettable. I love
it.
Jen

|
 | Thank you!!! We are so happy to have The Sylvia in downtown
York open again for movies and musical performances. Thank you
for honoring the YCHS Cougar Band and their families in November.
We had a great time and plan to go to the Sylvia more often.
This is just what our downtown area needed and it's perfect for our
community.
A YCHS Band Mom and Life-Long York Resident

|
 | I am so glad that ya'll thought of putting a movie theater into
Sylvia. It was the best idea ever. It makes it so much easier for
people and it's not as expensive as going to Rock Hill or Pineville.
I just wanted to say to everyone at Sylvia to keep up the good
work!!! The Sylvia is definitely a place that has brought all people
from York County in to have a great time with music and movies.
K-M.Diddy-to the F

|
 | Its Incredible how the Sylvia is bringing up the downtown area and
its a great place to go to for music and movies and its very close
and very very CHEAP!!! and the staff is amazing polite and always
willing to help!
David(Doc)

|
 | I am very excited about the movies....Excellent idea, just what
downtown York needs. I am hoping to see this grow and offer a
variety of movies! Happy not to have to drive all the way to Rock
Hill or Pineville. My family will definitely be attending the
movies! Any upcoming Jazz Bands?
Dawn
(Mgmt note: Jazz bands are planed for the near future.
Stay tuned to this site.)

|
 | Movies-Great idea! I said recently that Saturday afternoon
movies would be a great idea at the "theater". Kinda
of a "throwback", in line with the theater itself.
Count on my kids coming up to the place on the weekend, if the
movies are "suitable" (I am sure they will be). We
live in easy walking distance, so it will be a treat.
Afternoon "oldies" may work too, you know, the kind that
are on TCM, or old classic war movies, John Wayne, etc.
Keep up the great work.
T. Jackson

|
 | Shrev 223 was a great new band. I think it was great to see kids
putting all their time and energy into music instead of getting into
trouble. i think it would be great to see them again.
Summerfest, you could barely find a seat. They rocked.
Trey Harper

|
 | Everyone was great but that Tyler dude, he was very different and
very strange but other then him the band (Shrev 233) was awesome and
I would really like to see them at the Sylvia again.
Crystal M.

|
 | Shrev 233 was great! They did such a great job performing
and they should be invited back at the Sylvia. Harry Miller
was great on vocals. Spencer Miller was great on guitar.
JP was awesome on bass and Mitchell was the best ever on drums.
Their music was so talented and well arranged. I would pay
lots of money to see them again!!!!!
the "tiger" on the links

|
 | Shrev 233 was a awesome band! They rocked out so hard! I was
waiting all day just to see them play. Its cool to think that
there's a punk band here in York. I hope they come to play
again because they were so GOOD!!!!!! Rock On Guys!
Marissa Armstrong

|
 | I am from out of town and I came in the Sylvia at a very good
time. I saw tons of people running in the Sylvia. I was
like, I have to check this out and see what's going on. As I
walked in every one as screaming as a band teenagers walked up on to
the stage.
I loved their music. I liked it because that kind of music
(punk rock) rarely gets played in venues any where in York
county. I would travel back to York just to see them perform
again. There are tons of punk rock fans it seemed like in York
and I bet, like me, they would love to see Shrev 223 again at the Sylva.
Nick

|
 | Yo, Shrev 223 tore it up at Summerfest, You should get them back.
Maybe for a longer set this time though. That would be awesome
Chase Nivens

|
 | Shrev 223 was awesome the other day at Summerfest! The whole
place was packed with Shrev fans that were so eager to see them.
I hope they come back because they were funny and very energetic.
There music was a little different from the music that's usually
plays at the Sylvia. I think it's an ok change to make though
to let bands like Shrev play there. I hope I see them again.
Harry Miller

|
 | I just read in the Clover paper that you may start showing family
films during the week. I hope everything works out for you, I
would love to see movies in downtown York, especially in your
facility. Good luck.
Mary Baird
(Mgmt note: The Sylvia Theater is in the process of
installing projection equipment. Movies will be added to the
offerings of the Sylvia this fall but music performance will still
be a big part of the activity.)

|
 | Hey, I recently found about your place and wanted to see Roger
McGuinn, but wasn't able to. Please have him back, and also
try to have the Kruger Brothers and Emmy Lou Harris. Your kind of
venue is ideal for acts such as those. I'll be there!
Rodney Timms

|
 | I attended the Roger McGuinn show last Friday night and had a
great time. As a life-long resident of York County, it's good to
know the community is getting a bit of culture!! It's a great room,
and I plan to be back.
Marty Revels

|
 | I attended last night's show by Roger McGuinn. It was the best
concert I've ever been to. I loved the fact that your theater has
such a warm, friendly atmosphere. It was like a group of friends
sitting around listening to another friend play the guitar. Your
prices are great and your staff was friendly, courteous, and went
out of their way to accommodate the fans. Seeing Roger McGuinn after
40 yrs. of being a fan, was well worth the wait and the trip I made
from Troy, N.C. I hope you will book him again, as soon as possible.
He was inspiring to this old guitar picker, I dusted off my
12-string when I got home last night. Again, I would like to thank
Roger McGuinn and all of you at The Sylvia Theater for a GREAT job
last night.
Jim McLaurin

|
 | The Sylvia Theater is one of my favorite music venues . I have
enjoyed many great shows there.
I think it would be great if you could book John Doe of the
legendary L.A. Band X he does great folk style music . Check
out his site www.thejohndoe.com
.
Keep up the great work and keep the Sylvia alive and well
!!!!!!!
Mike Thrower

|
 | Leon Redbone needs to be booked again. It was a little over
a year ago you had Leon at your theater. It was my one & only
show at the Sylvia. I hope you can get him back real soon. He's
playing in VA in April. Is there a possibility? He was very
well received & the audience had a ball. I'll make the drive
from Wilmington, NC again for another enjoyable night in York.
Steve Campbell

|
 | On Saturday, January 16th the Sylvia Theater hosted the best band
from "these parts", The Blue Dogs. The show was
outstanding and my friends and I enjoyed the cool, laid back setting
at Sylvia. Thanks!!
Keith

|
 | We attended the Blue Dogs concert at your theater and thoroughly
enjoyed ourselves! The Blue Dogs were great, as usual, and your
theater is so quaint. Everyone was so nice and accommodating. And it
certainly doesn't hurt having the neat restaurants right across the
street. We will definitely be back!
Steve and Sheila

|
 | We saw Blue Ridge on the 8th of Jan. and they were outstanding. We
hope you will be able to book them again and again. We enjoyed the
show and the Sylvia Theater. Keep up the good work!!!
Bill

|
 | Sat. night at the Sylvia was the place to be!!! John Cowan band
were at their best , the sound was great and the place is beautiful
, the owners and staff really know how to make you feel
welcome. We plan to be regulars !! Thanks to John, the
band and the Sylvia for an evening we won't forget.
Yannia

|
 | ALLISON MOORER, was outstanding, she is not only one of best
artists out there today, Allison is a down to earth lady. It was a
great night getting to hear Allison live, hope she gets to come back
soon. Terrific guitar rhythm, she is very talented singer, guitar
player and song writer.

|
 | "I had a great time at the Al Stewart show. With the intimate
setting for the show I felt like I was there for a VH-1 taping of
Storytellers. This venue was well worth the trip from Charlotte.
Keep up the good work !!"
Bruce M. Baysinger

|
 | "Great job on the renovation and in creating an Icon in that
area. The web site is fabulous. I am looking for a map. I can't wait
to visit from Charlotte. I had an idea. A party bus could be organized
to carry folks down from Charlotte for a show. That would be a
blast."

|
 | "Oh my goodness! What a sweet line-up of talent you all have
at your place. I was introduced to your venue recently by someone
who attended a show. You all have the most remarkable list of
performers for a place your size I've ever seen. Even for a place
many times your size, it is remarkable. I marvel at how you are
doing it. All I can say is keep it up and soon people from near and
far will be traveling to your corner of musical heaven. From just
the acts you are presenting, you have something to be very proud of.
I once ran a music venue in Nashville, Tennessee and the true secret
is giving people great talent and couple that with a good environment
and you will win them over. You are indeed moving in the right
direction. Be patient, I know that it is sometimes a tough road to
hoe. I did make my first visit and it happened to be your
anniversary. You all truly go out of your way to be warm and
inviting to your guests. I wish my schedule permitted me to come to
Sylvia every night. I would recommend only one thing, that you
fix your sound problems. The complaints from the performers should
be noted and taken care of. Keep it up, I will be steering my
friends your way to make sure you are in their plans."
Dustin Harris
(Mgmt comment: Improvements to the sound system are in the
works and will be installed soon.)

|
 | "Hey now, What a wonderful looking and sounding venue
right in our back yard - I've yet to experience a show here, but I
thought I'd recommend all sorts of regional and national acts that
would seem to be an ideal fit for your establishment: Todd Snider,
Nathan Sheppard (a veteran songwriter from Athens, Ga. who is well,
well worth your time), Chuck Brodsky (again), Beth Wood, Guy Clark,
Man Alive! (NC old time band), John Prine :-))), Preston Frank
Family Band (the real deal when it comes to authentic creole music
from La.), Jack Williams(! S.C. poet extraordinaire now residing in
Texas), Steve Forbert, the Del McCoury Band, the Kruger Brothers
(spend part of their year in N.C.), Jay Farrar (of Uncle Tupelo and
Son Volt fame), Jennie Stearns, the Larry Keel Experience and/or
Larry solo, Gigi Dover and/or the Rank Outsiders (do they still play
as a group?), Peter Rowan's Texas Trio, Ralph Stanley and the Clinch
Mountain Boys, Fred Eaglesmith....Oh well, that's a wish list for
starters...any chance we'll get any of these fine folks at your
place soon?...Here's hoping..."
JP
|
 | "I attended the show on the 19th of July and I was blown away
by the opening act(s), Kitty King and Jem Crosland! Wow! What a
pair! They are both great performers and I really enjoyed the show.
I look forward to seeing them again really soon at your venue! By
the way I just love the Sylvia! I would have never expected anything
like it in York, SC! You guys are doing a great job, keep it
up!"
Stephen Myers

|
 | "What an awesome job you guys did on that building. The acoustics
and atmosphere are great. I think you have gotten in on the ground
floor of York revitalization. Great selection of musical acts - I
love the country stuff, and would like to see the Derailers there in
the future. Keep up the good work!"
J Lawler

|
 | "I saw David Childers awhile back and really enjoyed it...I would
love to see him come back. Thanks for the great show!"
Matt Ligon

|
 | "We visited the Sylvia Sat. night and we saw Tift Merritt. We
enjoyed ourselves so very much. We love the building and the great
acoustic sound, not to mention all the friendly people. Thank you so
very much for keeping live music alive. We look very forward to our
next visit."

|
 | "It comes easy for me to say that the Sylvia is one of my most
favorite venues to perform in. Everyone involved is kind and
professional in creating an atmosphere for art and music to
flourish. The Sylvia is setting a very high standard enriched by
it's history and it's undeniable future as a center for the arts. I
am fortunate to say I was one of the first to step on that stage in
her new beginnings. All the best to you and yours,"
Jeff Black

|
 | "A big thanks to everyone at the Sylvia for the great sound, the
great hospitality, and great time on June 27. It was our first time
appearing at the Sylvia and we couldn't have been more pleased.
Yours is a first class operation that rivals any listening room
anywhere! You should host field trips for some of the other venues
in the area so they could see what pride in your establishment and a
friendly staff are like! We anxiously await our return."

|
 | "Fantastic to hear about this venue in York not far from my home in
Lincolnton, NC. Look forward to seeing one of my favorites,
Tift Merritt who I was introduced at the Merlefest Americana
festival. I also would like to see Doc Watson as well. Converting
old theatres into music venues is always been a favorite of mine
having seen some wonderful shows at the old Fox Theatre in Atlanta
Georgia. Look forward to a visit."

love ya!"

 | "All I can say is WOW! Last night - June 6 - was my first
visit to The Sylvia Theater. I learned about you guys recently from
the ad in Creative Loafing. Your facility is beautiful, clean, and
it sounds great. I have gone to a similar venue in Charlotte, The
Neighborhood Theater, and have now become instantly spoiled by your
place. My wife and I will be coming to see you all very often.
We regret that more people were not out to see Sam Anderson, he is
one of the best performers I have ever encountered. We will
definitely be back on July 12 to see him. We will also have friends
in tow! Thanks also to the nice guy running the place for
making us feel so very welcome. I am horrible with names, but since
he was the only person working he will know who he is! I am
also taking the sponsorship information to my company. I will try to
sell them on it!"

 | "I have lived in Clover, SC for two years. I had heard
about the Sylvia Theater from a couple of people but no one was
really sure where it was. I let it slip through the cracks and
it wasn't until I saw the ad in the latest Creative Loafing that I
realized this place was in my backyard. I've seen the website
and can't believe the things I have probably already missed.
Thanks for letting me know about it and I'll see you tomorrow at the
Kevin Kinney/Rudy Currence Show. OUT!"

 | "Thanks so much for keeping us entertained and providing the
best place I've ever been for music! The Chicken Bone show
last night was my tenth trip to Sylvia and I will keep coming
back. I over heard a comment at the bar that I must share and
comment on. To the lady who was questioning the bartender about why
Doc Watson was on a Friday Night in Football season, I am not sure
why you continued to push the point when you were told that someone
like Doc does what Doc wants and when. If you would rather go to a
football game instead of seeing Doc Watson in the Sylvia Theatre,
then go to the game. I am certain your memories of the game will
fade before the next week. Seeing Doc in that little place will
never be lost. ... That is something you can do any Friday in the
fall. Great musicians are scarce. Hey, people of York County!
Get over to Sylvia more often. You really need to support this
place. You have no idea how lucky we are to have it. I wish you all
would give it more support. I sure hope it stays despite your
failure to support it. The Sylvia Theatre blows away anywhere else
in the area. I drive 40 minutes to shows to acts I know and those
I've never heard of. It is worth every second. Keep it up.
I'll be back with support!"

 | "Thanks so much for bringing great acts to the area. Is is a
great option ..... to see quality shows. I hope you can to
bring in more great performers. Kevin Welch was my first show
but I will be back for others! Also, thanks so much to the
nice guy who guided us through Lake Wylie to get us there. I believe
his name is Ben. Also, you all are so very warm and inviting once at
the theater. That too is a great change from other area
places."
Joe M.

|
 | "Damn, I guess I just can't wait to see a show in this place.
Great comments from everyone, nice website and I'll be seeing ya
soon."

|
 | "I heard a rumor York County will be treated to my favorite
songwriter David Via!..... People you do not want to miss an opportunity
to hear this!....Thank you Sylvia for saving me hundreds of miles to
enjoy so much of the best talent around!!!!"
Terence of Newport SC
(Management note: David Via appears at the Sylvia Theater
on April 11)

 | "Serving great music and keeping the price affordable for
anyone to be able to sample and experience music that they might
just have ears for! From the pipes of Robin Rogers to the
amazing picking of Larry Keel, I have enjoyed the treats ya'll have
turned us onto! I highly recommend the TATER show coming up in
June to ALL ages and maybe we will be treated to the awesome vocals
of John Cowan over there this year! Its a privilege to have
this talent so close without having to pay big ticket prices.
No I am not the fellow who paid with a roll of dimes, but if had to,
I know they would be welcome at the SYLVIA."

|
 | "What a great show by Hayseed Dixie. Congrats to all of you
involved in bringing the Sylvia Theater to life. For true music
lovers the atmosphere is really special. Nice touches with the
woodwork and details in keeping the originality to the building.
Bring back Hayseed!"
Brad Crawford

 | "I am thrilled to be coming down to the Sylvia from New York
on Feb 21 to see Paul. I've only heard great things about his place.
Not only is he my favorite cousin, he's adorable too!"
Lisa L

|
 | "Is it Jodie Manross or Mantross? We hope it is Manross as we
missed her last time in Charlotte."
Joe
(Webmaster's note: It is Manross. Nice catch)

|
 | "I have been to the Sylvia several times and have really
enjoyed the shows. I especially liked Kitty King and Chicken
Bone. I can not wait to see them again. Also it would be
wonderful if you could book some comedy acts! I know so many
people that love live comedy and there is no place to see it near
by. I will continue to come to as many shows as
possible! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!"
L. Mcdonald
(Management note: See the calendar for the Feb 8th show
for our first comedy act)

 | "Paul & Stephanie.......what a DREAM come true! Looks
like your hard work is paying off and I promise to come up for what
looks like a great night of music and fun! Best wishes for a
wonderful new year - Love, Gillian."
Gillian Garmany

|
 | "Kitty King was fantastic and I hope she comes back. If she
does, I will tell everybody I know to go to the show. I also enjoyed
Chicken Bone. When one of the members sang a solo (that Rain song),
it was pure beauty. The Sylvia should be proud."
Karan Robinson

 | "Here are some suggestions of bands I'd love to see: The
Pinmonkeys. Maura O'Connell and Gillian Welch."
Ginger Sawyer

|
 | "Enjoyed playing at the Sylvia Theater last night to a very
kind audience. This is a near perfect setup. Big stage, lighting,
and sound system. Auditorium seating in front of the stage and in
the balcony. Bar and an area to mingle at the back of the
auditorium. Great job Paul."
Little Doc Thornton

|
 | "One of the nicest, most performer friendly venues we've
played! Great sound, great atmosphere. Thanks for supporting
original music. We look forward to seeing you again!"
Chicken-Bone

|
 | "I am looking forward to seeing Kitty King perform at your
venue! I have seen her perform in Maggie Valley and she is a
wonderful singer/songwriter! It should be a great show!"

 | "Web site looks good, ya'll. Looking forward to coming to
visit."
Shelia Carlisle

|
 | "Awesome weekend!! What a treat to have the opportunity to play
locally AND to perform with my good friend and amazing musician, Ken
Kolodner. Paul, thanks so much for the use of your beautiful
theater for the hammered dulcimer workshops on Saturday and for
hosting the concert. Thanks to the Sylvia crew for all they
did to make the show run so smoothly... and a special thanks to Tom
for being my anchor throughout this event! Your support of
traditional music and the arts in York is invaluable! The Sylvia is
truly a gem!"
Susan Sherlock

|
 | "Thanks Paul and Tom and everyone for
bringing the Sylvia to life! It's a great venue for local and
touring talent. I've really enjoyed the times I've been there. I
expect we will have a long running relationship between The Sylvia
and area NSAI (Nashville Songwriter Association International)
workshops. Even though I couldn't make it to the recent Michael Reno
Harrell show, I did send my daughter, her husband and two of their
friends. They had a wonderful time and will return. Keep up the
GREAT work! "
